I am currently working as an English and writing tutor at Saint Petersburg College where I have been working since 2012. In this role I have created and executed languages arts based activities on grammar, writing, and mechanics in one-on-one sessions with students of a variety of mixed abilities, including ADHD, Asperger's, and Down Syndrome. I also assisted Spanish-speaking students who were in the process of English Immersion and taught research writing skills such as composing a thesis, preparing a bibliography, and finding suitable academic resources. In over 90% of cases, my tutoring enabled students to go up three letter grades in their classes. Prior to this, I worked as a teacher's assistant at Indialantic Elementary school where I assisted the teacher in maintaining a 100% pass rate for students for state testing. I also created and implemented appropriate lesson plans, presentations, and e-learning modules when needed. I was the recipient of the annual "Best Teacher's Assistant" award for two consecutive years. I also aided in facilitating blended learning in both live and online classrooms, as well as furthering students' educational potential by assisting in evaluating the outcomes of learning. I also previously worked as a substitute teacher for Brevard County and was consistently praised for my devotion, performance, structure, and success as one of school district's most in-demand substitutes. I filled in for permanent teachers at a moment's notice and closely adhered to their lesson plans while keeping students engaged, focused, and motivated. Finally, I selected and maintained daily educational-focused routines to foster and nourish the children's multiple intelligences, incorporated technology into students' learning activities, and utilized an array of teaching pedagogies.
Experience
I have completed a 100-hour TEFOL certification at Eckerd College before going on to complete an associate's degree and a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Saint Petersburg College.
